Grand Tetons: 2012 : In 2012 we were blessed to visit the Tetons a few times..... In May a quick drive over-nigt visit on our way home from Idaho, with Spring showing her delicate colors throughout the Tetons. July found me making an epic one day drive from Cheyenne to Jackson and back again for my husbands favorite brew at Snake River Brewery - and of course I couldn't resist stopping and enjoying the Summer landscape of the Tetons! In October we returned hoping for Fall colors, and even though we missed the peak color of the leaves, the Tetons always have something amazing and beautiful for us to find and enjoy in the beauty and grace of the mountains.

Birds of a Feather : Although I do not consider myself a pro at capturing birds on camera (it takes considerably more dedication than I have given the subject), I do enjoy photographing them when the oppotunity presents itself..... My favorites are eagles, with a family of Goldens in a park where I hike, and have had a great deal of fun watching them go about their daily business. I also enjoy watching the geese and ducks when at the local city park. Hopefully you enjoy what you find here and will perhaps find something that you may want as a print somewhere in your home or office!

Wild Creatures : These wild creatures that roam across the open plains and deep in the leafy forest.... sparking our imagination and urging us to enjoy the freedom they know, they share with us this earth - asking only that we respect them and let them live as they were meant to - wild, free, and ever awe inspiring in their naturally God given grace and beauty. Sometimes they are found in a sanctuary such as the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center, in West Yellowstone, MT. At this time I have not seen either a grizzly or wolf close enough in the wild to catch them on camera, but have been to this center and am excited to share that experience as caught on camera here with you..... all other wildlife is found in the wild, either in a national park or just out in my local back-woods where the breeze is always refreshing and the silence truly is golden.

Devils Tower Wyoming : In the northeastern corner of Wyoming you will find the United States 1st national monument - Devils Tower. There are many native Indian legends surrounding this rock tower.... all are beautiful and native Indians still consider this sacred ground. The day I visited started with a beautiful blue sky and ended with stormy skies threatening (and eventually delivering) rain. On this day I learned to work with stormy skies rather than my usual wishing for better weather. The evening storm clouds were beautiful and I stayed out under the tower until the days light gave way to night.

Devils Tower Prairie Dogs : One of the great things about visiting Devils Tower is prairie dog town.... at the base of Devils Tower you drive through a flat that hosts these little critters and you can observe them as they go about their day. I was lucky enough to catch a momma and baby as well as a momma and daddy - they reminded me of us humans in the way they act towards each other, and it also seems they go to bed at sunset and stay there until sunrise.

Yellowstone National Park : Yellowstone inspires many things in many people.... for the artist it offers never-ending vistas and wildlife. For the naturalist it offers endless opportunities to experience nature at its grandest. I am extraordinarily blessed to live only a day's drive away. I was able to spend a couple days exploring parts of YNP in 2012 - absorbing the peace of a wild and almost untouched country. Although busy with tourists from around the world, Yellowstone still exudes peace and beauty everywhere you may look. The wildlife wander the fields and roads, knowing that this is their park, and we are but visitors for a moment, hoping and wishing to catch them as they go about their everyday lives.

Idaho : Growing up in Idaho I never truly appreciated the natural beauty that surrounded me - I just accepted it as part of my life. After living 20 yrs in large cities I have since developed a deep respect and appreciation of what nature offers us in the wild and rugged mountains of my home state... Snowy Range Wyoming : One of my favorite places to be in Wyoming is the Snowy Range in the Medicine Bow Forest..... closed to vehicle traffic during the winter once the snows have gathered deep enough to make safe travel impossible. Although popular and a scenic drive, there is always a peaceful place to be found here where you can sit, breathe the fresh mountain air, and soak up the the joy of mountain beauty.

Medicine Bow Peak Climb : In early October of 2011, I made the climb up Medicine Bow Peak - in total a ten mile hike from start to finish with a 1,200 foot climb up a rocky trail that twisted through boulders to the top of Medicine Bow Peak.... this climb was the toughest hike I did in 2011, but the view out over the Snowy Range and Rocky Mountains stretching from Wyoming down to Colorado was a reward well worth the effort!

Wild Mustangs: 2011 : A small selection of photos from my first year following Wyoming Mustangs. All of these mustangs are in central Wyoming, either in the Stewart Creek HMA or Green Mountain HMA. Wyoming mustang herds are managed by the BLM and, although surrounded by controversy and fought both for and against for various reasons, when you first sight a wild horse there is a magic that will grab your heart, and in my case hasn't let go. These are beautiful creatures that will trust humans to be close enough to watch them, but not so close as to create any illusion of friendship.

Wild Mustangs: 2012 : A new year with the mustangs.... this year was more time with bands getting to know each horse individually as they allowed. In early Spring it was fairly easy to find them, and curiosity often brought them close to me. But as an early Spring brought a hot and dry Summer, the mustangs retreated to distant places searching for water and food. Summer left many of my favorites missing from sight.... Fall brought many of the mustangs back to their regular haunts, however the drought continued - forage has been tough to find, and watering holes still dry. Winter has seen snow, bringing some relief for the lack of water, now only time will tell how the next year will treat these magnificent creatures of the Red Desert.

Wild Mustangs: 2013 : Another new year with the mustangs.... this will be my third year following the mustangs in the Red Desert of Wyoming, and I am looking forward to spending more time with bands I have met so far, watching their families grow and change. Deerwood Ranch Mustangs : Welcome to Deerwood Ranch..... an eco-sanctuary for mustangs that have been gathered off of the range and offered for adoption, but for various reasons did not find a new home to live out their lives. The Wilsons own Deerwood Ranch, and one day responded to an advertisement from the BLM, after two years of work these unwanted or forgotten mustangs were brought to the ranch to live, they are finally free of small pens and holding facilities. Seminoe Reservoir Fire : A fire northeast of Rawlins along the Seminoe Reservoir in central Wyoming... we thought we were taking a scenic drive along Seminoe Rd through the area only to find the road closed due to the wildfire. I was ready to take one last shot of the smoke before heading back home, when a most awesome Wyoming family asked if we wanted to jump in their boat with them and take a ride up the canyon to see how much closer we could get to the fire - of course we said YES!

Parco-Sinclair Wyoming : After a random stop on my way home one Spring day I discovered this hidden gem near Rawlins - although most will only ever see the oil refinery and Sinclair truck stop along I-80, this town has beautiful buildings still standing from their original establishment in the early 1920s. I took a second trip in late Summer to visit the museum and snap a few more photos of the historic hotel and museum, if you ever find yourself in this part of Wyoming take the time to stop for a few minutes to enjoy the quiet serenity and history of this town.

Your Bio

I have enjoyed taking wildlife and scenic photographs for many years, but had not seriously considered making it a career choice until late 2011... After moving to Wyoming in December 2010 a new world of photographic opportunity opened up to me that has been beautiful and amazing every day. I consider myself blessed to live where there is an incredible abundance of wildlife in elk, deer, moose, eagles, cute little squirrels and many many more creatures. As much as I love capturing on camera the lives of traditional wildlife, my passion is for the wild mustangs of Wyoming - they have become a focus for me, and I hope to bring to you the wonder I feel when I spend time with these powerful creatures.
As a new professional I find myself taking more time to learn what my camera can do for me - the camera has been upgraded 3x since moving to Cheyenne and currently I am working with a Canon 60D and Poweshot SX40. When I first began this website it was a FujiFilm camera which is a simple point & shoot camera. The SX40 is still in the point & shoot class as it does not have inter-changable lenses, the 60D allows both auto and manual control and is challenging me every day to be a better photographer.
I hope you enjoy the images here and will be honored should you purchase a print... I proof each photo before it is printed and shipped to you so as to ensure you receive a great print.
